“Wonder is the beginning of wisdom.”
- Socrates

"The ability to learn is a privilege. The foundation of an educated individual is the ability to grow and become better than the previous day. Within the realm of my Academics, I value the sanctity of knowledge, and the power it has on my life, and the world around me. It is not merely memorizing content, it is the ability to apply the characteristics that I have garnered in my time as a learner. We, as individuals, are indefinitely learning, and when we wonder, we insight wisdom. Academics has not only catalyzed my affinity for the medical field, it has instilled a sense of longing for continuous knowledge in my lifetime."

"AS AN F.I.U. HONORS COLLEGE GRADUATE, I AM PROUD TO REPRESENT A UNIVERSITY THAT PROMOTES MINORITY SCHOLARSHIP AND LEADERSHIP THROUGH RESEARCH AND INNOVATION, RANKED HIGHLY BY USNEWS AND WORLD REPORTS."

Bryan Lopez, F.I.U. Honors '22

As a Florida International University Honors College student, I pride myself with achieving the best resources and research available. At the Honor's College, their interdisciplinary approach allowed me to understand the world from perspective of languages, art, and politics. Aside from the Honor's College, the rigorous courses needed to fulfill the Biological Sciences degree, in addition to the requisites for medical school, allowed me to become a well-rounded, educated individual eager to continue researching and developing connections. From piloting new curriculums, to building organizations such as "The Learning Assistant Society", my academic career cultivated a path to my future success as a physician.

President, Vice-President, 2021-2022

The Learning Assistant Society is a Society for students, particularly those who are Learning Assistants (LAs) or are interested in becoming one. It seeks to foster an inclusive social, professional, and scholarly community for all LAs where we will cultivate the preparation and propagation of LAs in classrooms that foster active engagement and promote community awareness through service. As President, I initiated initiatives to make the society inclusive of minorities and fight for the underprivileged in academics, and teaching.
